WELCOME TO First Baptist Dawes

Whether you've been attending church for years or haven't stepped into a sanctuary in decades, we hope you'll come and join us Sunday if you're looking for a church in our hometown.

For 10 years, we've been helping spread God's good news here in our town and throughout the world, and we pray that God will continue to use our congregation.

  • Action

Experience
Experience a real God for your real life. You don't have to have it all figured out before you come to Him. God loves you right where you are, and we want FBC Dawes to be a place where you truly experience His love.

Connect
Connect in a relationship with God and others. We believe life is meant to be lived in a close community with our Creator and the ones He created. Our focus is on helping you connect with and grow closer to God so that you might connect with and grow closer to our community of believers.

Respond
Respond to what God is doing in your life through sharing with and serving others. We want to be a church that shows our faith in the way we live our lives. That's why we keep our eyes open for ways to serve others while sharing what God has done for us.

  • Beliefs

FBC Dawes is a family of believers who hold dear the doctrine of our faith. We have adopted as our general statement of faith “The Baptist Faith and Message” as adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention in 2000.

Our beliefs are as follows:

THE SCRIPTURES—(Bible) are God’s divinely inspired record of his revelation of Himself to man. It is without any mixture of error and is a perfect treasure of divine instruction.

God—There is one and only one living and true God who is preexistent, intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being. He is the Creator of the universe, the source of our redemption, and holy and perfect in all ways. He is eternal and uncreated. God reveals Himself to us as Father (Creator), Son (Jesus the Redeemer), and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.

JESUS—We believe that Jesus is the Son of God who was born of a virgin, was wholly God, and wholly man, lived a sinless life, died in our place as a sacrifice for the sins of mankind, was buried, arose bodily from the grave, and ascended into Heaven.

THE RETURN OF CHRIST—We believe Jesus Christ will literally return to earth.

HOLY SPIRIT—We believe that God, the Holy Spirit, is active in convincing unbelievers of their need for salvation and is the Comforter and Guide, who lives in every believer.

THE BIBLE—We believe in the Holy Scripture accepting fully the writings of the Old and New Testaments as the very word of God, verbally inspired in all parts; the scriptures are the infallible, inerrant, and authoritative rule for a life in faith.

MAN—Was created by the special act of God. He is created in God’s image, endowed with freedom of choice, and is the crowning work of His creation. Though created in innocence of sin, man through his free choice chose to sin against God and brought the plague of sin upon the human race.

SALVATION—Involves the redemption of the whole man and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Salvation comes through Jesus and Jesus alone, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for man. Jesus is the perfect, sinless sacrifice for our sin, accomplished through His crucifixion, burial, and resurrection.

ASSURANCE—We believe that every person who is truly saved is eternally secure in the Lord Jesus Christ.

ETERNITY—We believe that those persons who die in their sins without Christ will spend eternity in Hell and those persons who die with their sins forgiven through Christ will spend eternity in Heaven.

SATAN—We believe in the existence of Satan, the deceiver and God of this present world; that he was defeated and judged at the cross and therefore, his final doom is certain.

BAPTISM—We believe that water baptism is an act of obedience to the command of Christ and is by immersion after salvation.

PRIESTHOOD OF BELIEVERS—We believe in the priesthood of all believers; that Christ is our great High Priest and through Him, every born-again person has direct access into God’s presence without the need of a human priest, that the believer has the right and responsibility to personally study and interpret the Scripture guided by the Holy Spirit.

THE CHURCH—is a local body of baptized believers who are associated by free choice and covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel. You join the church through Salvation / Baptism, Baptism, Statement of Faith, or Letter from another cooperating Southern Baptist Church.

CHURCH ORDINANCES—The two ordinances of the Church are Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Baptism is by immersion and reserved for those who make a public profession of their salvation. It is a symbolic act of obedience. The Lord’s Supper is a testimony to and celebration of God’s great act of redemption through the death and burial of our Lord.

PRAYER—We believe that each believer has direct access to God through the Lord Jesus Christ.

GOVERNMENT—We believe in the separation of church and state but not in separation of God and government. Christians are salt and light in society.

How To Have A Personal Relationship With God!

A – ADMIT that you are a sinner and are not good enough to be able to live in Heaven with God when you die. Admit that you can never be good enough to satisfy God’s standard (perfection) for getting into heaven. (Romans 3:23; Ephesians 2:8-9)

B – BELIEVE that Jesus died on the cross for your sins and His death, burial, and resurrection are all that is necessary to wash away your sin and make you appear perfect before God. Believe that if you accept Jesus’ death as the payment for your sin that God will forgive your sin and not punish you for that sin. (Romans 5:6-10; Romans 6:23)

C – COMMIT your life to Jesus by asking Him to forgive you of your sin and to give you His free gift of eternal life. (Romans 10:9-13)

You can have God’s free gift of eternal life if you sincerely pray the following prayer, believing God will answer this prayer by saving you from your sin:

“Dear God, I know that I am not good enough to get into your heaven when I die. Jesus, I am asking you to forgive me of my sin so I can appear perfect before God and go to heaven when I die. Jesus, please come into my life, take away my sin, and be my Savior and Lord, so I can have your free gift of eternal life.

A-MEN!

MINISTRIES

"And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works."
Hebrews 10:24

At First Baptist Dawes, we have a simple hope: to see people come to know Jesus Christ and grow in their Christian faith.  Our ministries come in all shapes and sizes.  Please come and join us for worship.

Kids Ministry

Let's face it: no parent looks forward to the weekly battle of getting their kids to church.  None of us wants the church to be a place our kids dread going.  And the good news is, we don't think it has to be!  We hope that by creating fun, exciting environments where kids can experience God in new ways, we'll help you avoid the Sunday morning struggle and make the church a place your kids can't wait to get to each week!

Children's Ministry

We have an ongoing ministry to our Children in grades 1st - 5th that includes Sunday Morning Bible Study, Children’s Worship during the Worship Service, and Bible Drill for boys and for girls on Wednesday evenings. We also have special fellowship times for our children.  From time to time, our Pastor will take his “Pals” out on a special outing.  We also have special activities or events for our children during Easter and Christmas.  And of course, we have Vacation Bible School for our children during the summer months.

Spring Fling

Each Spring we have a “Community-Wide Spring Fling.” Our church family comes together to offer a time of fun and fellowship for our community.  We have food and various fun booths and events for our community at NO COST for anyone who attends.  It is an opportunity for us to do something for our community and give our community a chance to get to know us a little bit better.

  • Vacation Bible School

Each summer, we set aside a week during June or July to have a five-day “retreat” with all of our children and youth here at the church. We spend five nights in Bible Study and Missions Awareness. We have a great Worship Rally and refreshments.

Student Ministry

Our Student Ministry is for students in 6th—12th grades. This ministry meets for Sunday Morning Bible Study. They also meet on Sunday Nights and Wednesday Nights for Discipleship Studies, Worship, and Bible Study. We offer opportunities to attend Summer Camp and to get involved in mission projects.

If you spend time around our church, you'll quickly learn one thing: we love students. They're smart. They're funny. They're bold. And they're bursting with potential.

We truly believe that middle and high school students are world changers in the making. We know that the middle (6th – 8th) and high school (9th – 12th) years are a time where students are most in need of kindness and community and someone to walk alongside them as they grow. Under our leadership the student ministry group provides just that – connecting students with one another as well as with leaders who want to support them in their journeys. Both middle and high school groups meet weekly, each focusing on worship, teaching, and small groups to encourage students in their faith.

Women's Ministry

Women's ministries at our church are designed to make the big Sunday morning church experience feel a little smaller. We've crafted our environments to help you connect with others who are in the same season of life, forming close–knit communities to navigate the ups and downs of those seasons together. Through small group programs, our main goal is to make women's ministries at our church a place where anyone in our congregation can grow closer to the community while ultimately growing closer to Christ.

Other Women’s Ministry groups are:

DOLL (Daughter of Living Lord)—The 1st Tuesday of each month all Ladies are invited to attend a monthly “DOLL” meeting which is held at 6:30 PM. Different activities are planned for each month.

Wings (Women in God’s Service Prayer Time—All ladies are invited to attend a monthly “Ladies Prayer Time.” They will meet every 2nd Tuesday of the month at 10 AM in the Fellowship Hall. Following their prayer time, they go out to lunch.

Men's Ministry

By meeting together, sharing meals, walking through the curriculum, studying the Word, and simply doing life with another, the men in our congregation have a safe place where they can get connected with the resources, support, and friendships to help them live fuller lives in Christ.

No matter your stage or season of life, we want you to join us! Take a look at all the options we have for adult ministries to find what best suits you. We can't wait to help you connect with others in our church.

Our Music Ministry is composed of people aged 14—up who want to share in the joy of leading our church in worship each week. They do special music each Sunday and also do special worship presentations at Easter and Christmas.
